Georgetown, S.C. -- The Seventh Annual In the Pink Breast Cancer Awareness Walk & Duck-A-Palooza are set for 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct 6.
Organized by the Georgetown Hospital System Women’s Board, the two-mile walk will begin and end at the Imaging Center at Waccamaw Medical Park East on Highway 17 Bypass and wind through the Marsh Walk in Murrells Inlet. Participants are urged to note the change in the starting time this year (from 10:30 a.m. in previous years).
This year’s walk will conclude with a Survivor Celebration and Duck-a-Palooza, both of which will take place at the Imaging Center. Last year, Duck-a-Palooza and the “In the Pink” walk drew more than 1,200 participants, and organizers are hoping to increase that number for this year’s event, which benefits the GHS Indigent Breast Cancer Fund.
Participants can register online at www.georgetownhospitalsystem.org/breastcancerwalk or the day of the walk at 9 a.m. at the Imaging Center. Sponsorships are available. Call the GHS Foundation Office at 652-8080 for more information.
Meanwhile, from mid-August to mid-September, some of the ducks will be waddling, wading and swimming up and down the Waccamaw Neck getting ready for the big day. Each week on GHS’ Facebook Page, a new photo of the ducks will be posted. Guess their location and be entered into a drawing for a prize. Or post your own pink-duck photos and use the hashtag #inthepink. Check it out at http://www.facebook.com/georgetownhospitalsystem
