Georgetown, S.C. --- Two area business leaders have been appointed to the Georgetown Hospital System Board of Trustees.
Mark A. Nash of Georgetown and Willie C. “Booty” Shelleyof Murrells Inlet will serve on the 15-member board.
“I have known Booty Shelley and Mark Nash for many years, and I have great admiration for their commitment to the communities we serve and its citizens,” H. McRoy Skipper Jr., chairman of the GHS Board of Trustees, said. “They are joining a distinguished group of leaders who are dedicated to building a hospital system that is the best in the region. All of us on the board welcome them and look forward to working with them to advance Georgetown Hospital System.”
GHS CEO Bruce Bailey said Nash and Shelley will bring valuable ideas and perspectives to the GHS board. “Mark Nash and Booty Shelley are highly respected leaders, not only for their business acumen, but also for their many contributions to their communities,” “Bailey said. “As Georgetown Hospital System continues to grow, their leadership, their knowledge of the region and their experience will be invaluable.”
Nash is president and CEO of Nash Oil Co. Inc., a marketer of petroleum-based products and services. He has been active in numerous professional and civic organizations. He is past president and a former board member of the South Carolina Petroleum Marketers Assn. and a former director of the Petroleum Marketers Assn. of America. He has served on the boards of the YMCA of Coastal Carolina, the Salvation Army and is a former member of The Citadel Board of Visitors. Nash has been recognized by the Georgetown County Chamber of Commerce as the Small Business Person of the Year. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from The Citadel and his MBA from Charleston Southern University.

Shelley is owner and operator of Booty's Outdoors and is active in the Murrells Inlet community, where he serves on the Board of Directors and as treasurer for the Murrells Inlet-Garden City Fire Department. He is a former member of the Waccamaw Schools Advisory Board.
He has been instrumental in helping to shape water resources policy at the state and local level and has served on the S.C. Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Marine Recreational Fisheries Advisory Board and the DNR Marine Resources Advisory Board. He is a former member of the Georgetown County Land Use Committee and the Committee to Establish Murrells Inlet 2007. He earned a degree in economics from Clemson University.
Shelley said he is optimistic about the future of Georgetown Hospital System and is eager to have a role in charting its future.
“I am excited about serving on the board with a wonderful group of people,” Shelley said. “The growth and future of the Georgetown Hospital System is very important to me and all of our community. I look forward to seeing good things happen."
