When Francis B. Ford Cancer Treatment Center opened in February 2004, the $11 million project brought radiation therapy to Georgetown County for the first time. Georgetown Hospital System’s Radiation Therapy Center located at Francis B. Ford Cancer Treatment Center is accredited in Radiation Oncology Services by the American College of Radiology (ACR). It is the only accredited facility in South Carolina offering breast brachytherapy, prostate brachytherapy and stereotactic radiosurgery. In addition to radiation therapy, Francis B. Ford Cancer Treatment Center, located on Highway 701, houses Waccamaw Oncology and provides access to chemotherapy. The facility, which was developed as a joint project with regional cancer leader Medical University of South Carolina's Hollings Cancer Center, features state-of-the-art equipment, various support groups and educational programs.
In 2005, Francis B. Ford Cancer Treatment Center joined MUSC Hollings Cancer Center's Research Network, establishing the infrastructure for bridging access to cancer clinical trials research across the state and enabling sites to share resources and work together in delivering quality clinical trials.

The Imaging Center at Waccamaw Medical Park - East and Breast Health Center in Murrells Inlet offers technologically advanced imaging equipment including an open bore MRI to better accommodate claustrophobic patients, digital radiography, ultrasound and a 16-slice CT scan. Breast Health Center, a specialized component of The Imaging Center focused on breast health, offers both screening and diagnostic digital mammography (a first in the area), breast ultrasound and a special "breast coil" used in conjunction with the open bore MRI for specific breast imaging, if needed. When required as part of the diagnostic process, stereotactic core-needle breast biopsy, a minimally invasive, highly accurate, image guided outpatient procedure used to obtain tissue samples for diagnoses, is done at The Breast Health Center. The Breast Health Center also offers a patient resources area for education and access to research about treatment options and procedures. Coastal Carolina Breast Center specialized surgical practice that focuses on breast health is located within The Imaging Center.
